Eynsham Hall welcomes David Cameron to unveil “New Look” Boutique Country Hotel in Oxfordshire

Today marked the first Experience Oxfordshire networking event of 2016. Held at Eynsham Hall, there were over 150 local business and organisations in attendance as well as the Rt Hon David Cameron, Prime Minister and MP for Witney.

The informal event offered Experience Oxfordshire partners a chance to meet other business from across the visitor economy sector and network as well as well as an opportunity to catch up with the Experience Oxfordshire team. The event was also the grand unveiling of Eynsham Hall's £2.5million refurbishment to the local industry.

After speaking to the invited audience Mr Cameron did a walk around taking the opportunity to speak with many of Experience Oxfordshire's Partners and local businesses and also presenting B4's Richard and Colin Rosser a celebratory certificate on behalf of Experience Oxfordshire congratulating them on their 10 years in business.

The event is part of a series of annual events and programme's that Experience Oxfordshire runs for their partners.

On the event David Cameron MP said:
"It has been a pleasure to attend today's event here at the stunning, newly refurbished Eynsham Hall and to speak with local businesses. I am passionate about the tourism sector -- as shown by the drive I have given to the government's plans, including the excellent "Great" campaign -- and I am extremely proud to see the sector doing so well here in Oxfordshire".
"I was delighted to hear of Experience Oxfordshire's plans for the future and to see true public and private sector collaboration. I would urge any business with an interest in the visitor economy to get involved with Experience Oxfordshire and the great things they are doing. I will watch how this further develops with much interest and my support for the sector remains strong"

Hayley Beer-Gamage, Chief Executive of Experience Oxfordshire added;
"This has been a fantastic start to the year to have both the Prime Minister in attendance, showing how collaboration is key to success. At Experience Oxfordshire we are delighted to see so many of our Partners and Ambassador's here today to celebrate with Eynsham Hall and make exciting plans for the year ahead. We are an ambitious organisation who are looking to engage and grow the visitor economy across Oxfordshire and we are delighted to be receiving so much support. We have only touched on some of the exciting plans for the year ahead today and there is much more to come!"

Shaun Bowles, the General Manager of Eynsham Hall who welcomed everyone to the event said:
"This was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the work recently completed at Eynsham Hall, especially the new main hall bedrooms which are a real credit to the hotel. It's also incredibly warming to receive such strong support from Experience Oxfordshire and fellow members"

Richard Rosser, Chief Executive of B4 said;

New Chair for Conference Centres of Excellence board as it celebrates 21 years of Excellence

John Carson, Managing Director at Warwickshire’s renowned training and development and conference venue Ashorne Hill, has become the new Chair of Conference Centres of Excellence.

John was appointed Chair in May 2013, having been both a stalwart supporter of Conference Centres of Excellence and serving member of the board during the period of his company’s almost 9 years of membership.

Celebrating 21 years as the UK’s only marketing consortium to represent specialist, quality conference and training centres in the UK, Conference Centres of Excellence now has 34 members nationwide, including many of the country’s best known specialist conference and training venues, covering a geographical area extending from the South East of England to Scotland. Before joining, venues have to meet stringent criteria in terms of quality, facilities, accommodation and customer care.

John is quite different from past Chairs having spent his former years as an officer in the Royal Navy and more latterly as an HR Director. Taking over Ashorne Hill was a real career change and membership of Conference Centres of Excellence gave him an ideal opportunity to benefit from the experience of his peers. He is convinced this was really beneficial in his transition from one career to another. He still believes that he has more to learn!

John said, “I am absolutely proud to be taking over the Chair of Conference Centres of Excellence and hope to grow membership and membership value through the promotion of an organisation that clients can trust to deliver real quality’.

Executive Director Anthony Lishman said “John has been an active Board Member for the majority of the past 6 years, his business and management knowledge combined with great foresight will ensure our consortium thrives under his leadership. I know John will give the Chairmanship his full attention and steer the business in the right direction over the coming months".

Conference Centres of Excellence also welcomes Shaun Bowles, General Manager of Eynsham Hall in Oxfordshire, as a board member.

Experiential Learning - a Benefit to Business or just Fun & Games?

Conference Centres of Excellence, in conjunction with Spy Games and the Learning and Performance Institute hosted an exclusive client event recently to showcase the teaching and learning opportunities provided by experiential learning activities.

Training and development consultants from national organisations joined forces with Conference Centres of Excellence member venues, to tackle challenges such as ‘Agents International’, ‘Code Breaker’ and ‘the Enigma Project’ in the specialist setting at Eynsham Hall, Oxfordshire.

The event was created to interest people who have a responsibility for procuring the appropriate training for their personal and professional development of their management and staff, and introduced the benefits of experiential learning, in a memorable and exciting way.

Experiential learning is a highly effective training tool that can be used as an alternative or in conjunction with traditional methods. It aims to particularly engage learners in an experience that helps their understanding and creates that “eureka” moment.

The challenges offered an immediate insight into how experiential learning can benefit all levels of staff, on both an individual and team basis, and demonstrated how bespoke programmes can be tailored to suit company requirements.

And for those who took part in the day’s activities, the official ‘winning’ team of awesome agents was…… TEAM 2!!!

“This showcase event was a great success, a lot of fun and, it was clear from the conversation over lunch that all the participants had become immersed in the activities and experienced the benefit to learning first hand. “ said Greg Davidson from Spy Games.
“Today’s event has demonstrated how well experiential learning works in a dedicated, distraction-free learning environment. Because specialist venues have a clear understanding of our needs and objectives we can get on with the delivery of the programme in the knowledge that should something extra be needed, support is on hand to provide it without question.”

Spy Games is an established and successful company with an excellent reputation for designing and delivering experiential learning programmes of the highest quality, in a safe, controlled and fun environment for management and junior staff alike, that are creative and stimulating.

Eynsham Hall, a Grade II listed, Jacobean-style mansion nestled in 3,000 acres of Oxfordshire parkland has a long history as a dedicated conference and training venue and is proud to be a member of Conference Centres of Excellence.
