Møller Centre cycling team arrive back to Cambridge over 700 miles later

The DK2UK Møller Centre cycling team (Mark Carberry, Michael Herriot, Mark Campbell and Stefan Mitham) arrived safe and sound back in Cambridge on Monday 11th June.

The team successfully completed over 700 miles of cycling to raise money for East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH).

The cycle ride took the team across Denmark, Germany, The Netherlands and back to the UK in 11 days. The cycling team completed the cycle ride as part of the 20th anniversary celebrations for The Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller Centre for Continuing Education. To date, they have raised over £8k for EACH – The Møller Centre’s nominated charity for 2012.

“We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported the team” says Mark Carberry of The Møller Centre. “This was a tough challenge, but one that was well worth it to raise money for such a great cause. Thanks to people’s generosity, we know that the money raised is going to a fantastic charity that will do great work for both the children and their families.”

The Møller Centre, a great place to work, and also achieves Gold status

The Møller Centre, the only dedicated residential management training centre in Cambridge, has achieved a 2* outstanding rating in the Best Companies process. With 20% more full time staff employed over the last year to assist with growing business demands, achieving this great result has been through recognising that one of the most important assets to the company is their staff.

Last year The Møller Centre achieved “One to Watch” accreditation in the Best Companies process, the next milestone would be achieving 1* status, however, The Møller Centre has exceeded their expectations and achieved the 2* status, one of the highest categories.

“The loyalty and support we get from our clients has allowed us to grow, employ more staff and support the local community.” Says Gillian Secrett, CEO of The Møller Centre. “We take the recruitment, development and training of our staff very seriously which is reflected by our very low staff turnover ratio, a very unusual statistic in our demanding industry. This Best Companies result is an award for our staff to recognise and further develop their skills and career at The Møller Centre.”

It’s Gold again for The Møller Centre in the 2011 BDRC Continental VenueVerdict awards. To achieve this standard, The Møller Centre must achieve a net promoter score of over 70 from client event organisers’ feedback over a twelve month period, and The Møller Centre achieved 79.9.

“This result reflects our ongoing commitment to deliver excellent service and facilities to our clients. It is no easy task to achieve this high score, and we thank our clients for providing this positive result for us” says Stuart Websdale, General Manager of The Møller Centre.

The Møller Centre has recently finished a £100k refurbishment programme of the Study Centre including more networking tables and chairs, enhanced IT facilities, repainting of the Centre’s walls, new wash basins and taps in the public toilets, and a new bar and servery area to offer clients greater flexibility with the space available and even quicker service.

The Møller Centre reaches the highest standard for service and business excellence

The Møller Centre, the only dedicated residential management training centre in Cambridge has been awarded Hospitality Assured’s national 2010 Highest Score award presented this week to The Møller Centre at London’s Dorchester Hotel.

The Møller Centre has been using the Hospitality Assured assessment for 11 years as a business planning tool, by assessing its facilities and procedures using its 10 step process to ensure they offer service excellence to clients. For the last 8 years, The Møller Centre has been within the top 5 highest scoring organisations, last achieving the highest score in 2008. The process focuses on analysing who the target market is, understanding client needs, marketing to the client, tailoring service delivery, follow up and improvements. At the end of each step a score is given, and then an overall score is recorded for all steps. There are currently over 130 organisations across the UK who have Hospitality Assured accreditation.

Recent Investment has been made into continually updating The Møller Centre’s IT facilities and AV equipment to give clients more flexibility with the meeting room space they have. New data projectors, PCs, laptops and software updates have been purchased to ensure we keep up to date with what our clients need and expect from us. In addition, the £225k bedroom refurbishment project is over halfway completed offering brand new bathroom facilities to ensure client stays are as comfortable and relaxing as possible.

“A good operation provides clients with what they need. A great operation always strives to continually better itself by anticipating and identifying client needs, and it’s for this reason that The Møller Centre invests heavily into factors that the Hospitality Assured process identifies to continually ensure we offer clients the very best we can” says Stuart Websdale, General Manager at The Møller Centre. “We, as a team, are delighted to have achieved the highest standard in the UK as part of the Hospitality Assured process. This is a great benchmark for when clients are looking for a great venue to host their next meeting or conference.”

THE MØLLER CENTRE BECOMES AN ACCREDITED IT TRAINING VENUE

After a rigorous and comprehensive assessment, The Møller Centre in Cambridge has achieved national accreditation from the Institute of IT Training (IITT). The accreditation is recognised as the gold standard for venues offering facilities for the training of IT specialists.

The IITT’s assessment involved a thorough audit of the Centre’s technical facilities, technical support and service to clients. The accreditation process also examines related factors, including business integrity, client perception and procedures and quality of staff.

Stuart Websdale, General Manager of The Møller Centre said ‘We are delighted to have received this accreditation. We have a programme of continuous reinvestment in all our facilities, but particularly in our technical capabilities to ensure that we can offer our clients the widest possible range of solutions for their event. We hold a significant quantity of AV/IT equipment on site which allows us to keep costs down for our clients and react quickly to changes they may require.’

‘For example,’ he continued, ‘during the poor weather in January, several delegates were unable to reach the Centre. Rather than cancel the event we facilitated the transmission of the presentation as a live webinar, with delegates logging in from their homes, offices and motorway service stations! A video conference was run alongside to enable those at remote locations to participate fully in the meeting.’

The Institute's Accreditation is emerging as the de-facto standard in the IT training industry today and is becoming a requirement for the majority of training tenders in Government and blue-chip corporations. The widely recognised accreditation gives clients the assurance that a venue’s facilities conforms to the Institute of IT Training’s Code of Practice and offers facilities and technical services of the highest standard.

Mark Carberry, Sales and Marketing Manager of The Møller Centre said ‘We are absolutely delighted to gain this accreditation. It is a testament to the dedication and quality of our staff, and that we have dedicated technical specialists on-site at all times.’

The Learning Facilities Accreditation scheme is a critical element in the Institute’s mission to raise standards within the IT training sector and provides the standard of excellence against which organisations are benchmarked. As part of its drive to improve standards, the Institute focuses considerable attention on this programme.

In February, The Møller Centre was awarded Silver for ‘Training Venue of the Year’, by the Institute of IT Training based on its ability to offer clients the technical facilities and support they require, including its recent extensive investment in additional AV/PA; video recording and relay, video conferencing, and web- conferencing and casting.

Mark Carberry, Sales and Marketing Manager for The Møller Centre, said ‘We are delighted to receive this award in recognition of our service and facilities. Service is at the core of what we do, starting from the first point of contact with a client and working with them every step of the way to ensure a successful outcome for their event, and our staff are at the very heart of this process.’
