Health Minister speaks at National Meeting on Antimicrobial Stewardship in Scotland at Stirling Management Centre

On 9 February 2010 the Scottish Antimicrobial Prescribing Group (SAPG) hosted a national event at Stirling Management Centre to highlight current good practice and outline their future vision. The meeting aim was to share key achievements in antimicrobial stewardship with NHS board managers and clinicians. Nicola Sturgeon, Cabinet Minister for Health and Well-being, addressed the meeting, giving the Scottish Government view. Presentations followed by local, national and international stakeholders in this field. Professor Dilip Nathwani, Chairman of the SAPG, shared plans for future work to optimise the use of antimicrobials in all healthcare settings. Antimicrobial stewardship is a key element in managing Healthcare Associated Infection.
