The Manor House are proud to announce that Head Chef Gavin Kellett has reached the final four in the Chef of the Future Competition, which is due to take place on Wednesday 21st May 2014 in Manchester.
Run by the Vegetarian Society's Cordon Very Cookery School, the competition is in its sixth year and challenges chefs to create a wholly vegetarian three course menu. The competition is open to professional chefs and keen amateur cooks with thewinner being offered a fully funded place on the Cordon Vert Professional Diploma training week.
As a finalist Gavin will have three hours to cook a three course menu, which must serve four people and will then be presented to a panel of judges in a Master Chef style.
The Manor House prides itself on its presentation of vegetarian dishes that appear throughout their menus in order to provide a great selection and choice for both delegates and residents.
Gavin is a keen forager and his menu entry showcases new ingredients and cooking methods to give classic dishes a modern twist. The menu includes a few foraged ingredients, such as stinging nettles; which are part of the main dish! It is challenges like these that test and improve a chef's skills and helps them grow and create innovative flavour combinations and cooking methods. Gavin's full menu can be seen here and we wish him all the very best of luck.
